How posting works
What happens after you approve a post, up to when it's live on each platform.

After you approve a post
When you approve a draft, it gets a date and time in Calendar. At that time, we post it to every account it's set to go to. You don't need to be online.
Your posts are set to go to the platforms you picked when you signed up, and to every account you connect. When you connect a new account, the posts that haven't gone out yet go there too, as long as that platform takes that kind of post (TikTok doesn't take a single picture, for example).
To change a post, open it in Calendar. You can change:
- the day it goes out
- the time it goes out
- which accounts it goes to
How each platform shows your post
Every platform gets the same pictures. But platforms accept different kinds of posts and different caption lengths, so we send each one a version it accepts. We don't reword anything.
| Platform | A carousel (several slides) | The caption |
|---|---|---|
| A carousel of up to 10 slides | Full caption, with hashtags | |
| A post with up to 10 photos | Full caption, without hashtags | |
| TikTok | A photo post of up to 35 slides | Full caption, with hashtags |
| A document of up to 20 slides | Full caption, with hashtags | |
| X | One post with the first 4 slides | Shortened to 280 characters if needed, without hashtags |
| Threads | One post with up to 10 slides | Shortened to 500 characters if needed, without hashtags |
| Google Business | Not sent (single pictures only) | Full caption, without hashtags |
If a carousel has more slides than a platform accepts, that platform gets the first ones, up to its limit.
When we shorten a caption, we end it on a whole word, so it still reads properly. We never write a second version, so what goes out is what you approved. When we remove hashtags, we only remove the line of hashtags at the end of your caption. Hashtags inside your sentences stay.
To use a different caption on one platform, open the post in Calendar and give that platform its own caption.
TikTok doesn't accept a single picture on its own, so posts like that go to your other accounts instead.
Google Business Profile accepts a single picture but no video, so carousels and videos go to your other accounts instead. If you've connected Google Business Profile, we add it to the first single-picture draft in each new set of drafts, including your weekly drafts. When you approve that post, it also goes to your Google listing, with a Learn more button that links to your website.
Stories
If Stories are on, once a post is live on Instagram or Facebook, we add it to that account's Story. The Story shows the post's picture as a card in your colors, with a line pointing people to the full post on your profile. A carousel shows its first slide and says how many slides there are. A video shows its cover. The caption stays on the post. Stories disappear after 24 hours.
When you open the post in Calendar, its Story has its own line, so you can see whether the post and the Story each went out.
If a platform refuses a post
This happens occasionally. Usually the account needs you to sign in again, the post breaks one of the platform's rules, or the platform has a problem. When it happens:
- In Calendar, the post shows which platforms it went to and which one refused it.
- We email you to explain what happened.
- The post keeps its picture and caption. Once the problem is fixed, open the post in Calendar and tap Try again. If only some platforms refused it, the button says Try the failed ones again, and we only resend it to those.
If a platform blocked the post under its content rules, change the caption or picture before you try again.
Your other accounts aren't affected. If a post was going to 3 accounts and 1 refused it, the other 2 still got it.
